Wild Heart Coffins

Product Description:

Wicker coffins using UK grown willow on a solid hardwood base with a solid hardwood centrepiece in the lid. Our coffins can be woven with both stripped willow and willow with its bark on. Our load bearing handles are made with sisal rope, and we use cotton cord and handmade hazel toggles to attach the lid to the base. Inside we fit a calico and (if necessary) plastic liner with an organic hay-filled calico mattress and pillow. All our coffins are made using materials sourced from the UK and are woven with care in our workshop in Warwickshire.

Unique Product Features:

We design our willow coffins using different types of willow to create different effects. We use Welsh-grown Douglas fir in our solid wood bases and a range of solid hardwoods in the lid centrepiece (these are generally offcuts from other carpentry and joinery projects we're working on and are dependent on availability). We hand carve our wooden toggles from hazel grown in our hazelnut orchard and use hay from our farm to fill the calico mattress and pillow. All our coffins and liners are made in our workshop here on our organic family farm in Warwickshire.
